MRGeology is a Victorian based service provider to exploration companies and other exploration and mining service providers, formerly operating as MakinITEzy*. The business is owned by Fiona Makin, and works predominantly on supporting exploration projects within Victoria. Fiona's team on the ground, supporting her with her community engagement work, are Wency Luong and Peta Cook.

Fiona completed her Bachelor of Applied Science (Geology) in 1996 and a Graduate Diploma in Computing in 1999. While completing the computing diploma, she commenced working with Perseverance Corporation at Fosterville, Victoria as a computer geologist working on database management, creating maps using MapInfo and 3d modelling.

On completion of her Graduate Diploma in Computer Science, she moved to Switzerland to follow a career as a data architect and web developer. In 2000 she returned to Australia and took up various roles as an IT professional until 2004 when she established MakinITEzy, initially as an IT service provider. In 2008, Fiona was reminded that she was a geologist and started back on projects in central Victoria whilst maintaining her website business**.

Fiona has focused the majority of her geology career on work relating to regulatory compliance and community engagement; she has worked for many clients throughout Victoria in both these capacities. Fiona also worked for 3 years at La Trobe University(Bendigo), teaching and running tutorial and practical classes for students completing their engineering degrees and assisted exploration clients with their annual and quarterly ASX reporting obligations.

In 2012 Fiona was editor of the national farming magazine, Town & Country Farmer, and prepared two articles with respect to Exploration in Victoria and landholder rights, to view the articles please click on the following: Article 1 – June 2012 … Article 2 – August 2012 . Having grown up on a farm and living 1/2 time on a Mallee farm for the last five years, Fiona has a strong sense of respecting farmers and finding solutions that work for both farmers and explorers.

She has been the webmaster for the national industry body for earth scientists, Australian Institute of Geoscientists (, for over nine years and has been an active member of the Victorian state branch throughout that time. For the last two years she has been the editor of their national quarterly publication AIG News {} and regularly attends conferences and workshops on behalf of the AIG, assisting member inquiries and promoting the organisation.

Fiona has over 22 years experience as a geologist and IT professional and thrives on seeing projects done right.
